Teaching students to site their work when writing is an extremely important part of an English teachers job. Students have a tendency to cut and paste from the internet and call it their own. Plagiarism is grounds for expulsion in most Colleges and Universities. In a Pew Research poll, 89% of College Presidents said that computers and the internet are the reason for the drastic increase in plagiarism over the past 10 years. Therefore it is our role to teach students how to cite work responsibly.
Google Docs has a Research Tool built in which allows students the ability to search for content related to the topic and include it with proper citation (MLA, APA, or Chicago). The following video will explain how to use the Research feature .
